When I first tried the brush heads in the Fix It Stix I thought the brush head was made of plastic as the magnet did not seam to hold it in. Upon further inspection I discovered it was metal with an 8-32 threaded hole in the end. I didn't want to carry an extra handle with matching 8-32 thread so I purchased some 8-32 set screws and inserted them in the holes. This increased metallic mass has greatly improved the magnetic hold. I assume gun cleaning rods use 8-32 threads but for bicycle applications a strong magnetic bond is sufficient. I see this as a useful tool for touring cyclists to clean their bikes while on tour.
All the Fix-It-Sticks products are top-of-the-line, they are made with quality materials and made to do the gunsmithing operation they were designed for. I bought these as extra brushes. I often clean, coworkers guns, and they’re poorly maintained until I get a chance to scrub them. So my other brushes get dirty quick. This is a great system!
First I was upset that items got lost by USPS but after I informed company of problem it was taken care of. The brushes are will made, as all their item. If you work on your weapon you need to look at these products. They are will made and not junk.
